This Has Been My Week In YouTube Videos

If you know me, you know I like them YouTube videos. Since I have an attention span of a fruit fly, a 5 minute video is perfect to keep me entertained. Here are  5 videos (some of) that entertained me this week.

1.

I bet you’ve seen one of Yanis’ videos before. Handsome men dancing in heels. And not just your average heels. They are seriously rocking hooker heels! I can’t even walk let alone stand in 3 inch heels. So I bow down. Bow down.

2.

I’ve been considering buying a new phone as my S3 is working in a very sloth like pace and that with my attention span, well, I think it’s time for a new one. I considered going for an iPhone but nothing beats an android in my opinion. This video is a review of the phone I’m considering but I’m having a hard time taking this guy seriously.

3.

There is an Attack On Titan theme park in Japan. I repeat. An ATTACK. ON. TITAN. THEME. PARK. Just let that sink in people and get jealous because God damn it! Japan just won’t stop being so freaking cool!

4.

The Season 2 of my favorite late night show program is nigh! Prepare yourself for the king of late night political satire (debatable) people because John Oliver is back and he promises the show to be “pretty much the same thing” If you have not seen any of John Oliver’s wit and humor, you can easily dig some of the episodes in the show’s YouTube channel.

5.

Speaking of a favorite show coming back. Broad City a.k.a the funniest show about 2 girls in NYC ever! is back with their second season and it’s funnier! And anyone who has not taken advantage of dancing in an empty apartment naked is seriously missing out on a good time. Plus this scene from S02E02 is Lady Gaga approved.

So that’s a little weekly round up. What YouTube Video did I miss out on? How low is your self esteem? Let me know in the comments!

Till then, dance naked in your apartment people! Doctor’s orders.

Maybe You Should Listen To Haim’s Album Days Are Gone

I was actually half tempted to make a post about Maroon 5’s new album V – mostly because I’ve been listening to it non-stop – but who needs that when we can listen to an old favorite of mine, Haim.

If you don’t know by now, I make album recommendations in this part of my blog. I am always in the lookout for great music and the Haim girls are one of my favorite discoveries of 2013. Yes 2013! And yet I don’t see more people talking about this band. So I thought maybe it’s time to take Haim out of the niche corner.

Haim’s album Days Are Gone. 11 tracks. Let’s do this!

1. Falling

Don’t stop, no, I’ll never give up
And I’ll never look back, just hold your head up

A song about not giving up and if you fall down, well fuck it, just fall down then.

What I Think About It: It’s up there in my favorite songs of all time list. It’s that good! Also, I cannot not lip sync and dance along with this every time I hear this. I can be in line paying for my groceries and I would freaking dance while I count my change if this comes on.

Listen To This When: I don’t drive but I would imagine this would be a really great song to drive to in an empty highway while the wind is blowing your hair.

2. Forever

Forever we tried to make it right,
But together we saw the end in sight

A song about making a Hail Mary attempt to make an old love work when it’s no longer working but you just can’t give up because it’s supposed to be “forever”.

What I Think About It: First of all the music video for this is pretty dope. The home video aspect of it made me think that this was a song to their hometown, where they tried to kick start their career but had to move on to the bigger city. Am I thinking too much into this?!

Listen To This When: You have a love hate relationship with anyone or anything. Like how bacon vodka is just the best thing to drunkenly consume but at the same gives you the cruelest hang over the next day.

3. The Wire

I know it’s hard to hear me say it but I can’t bear to stay and
I just know I know I know I know that you’re gonna be OK anyway

A song about breaking up with someone you have to be overly gentle with because they’re “nice” except you don’t want to be with them anymore.

What I Think About It: Now it’s easier to break up nicely with someone. Just play them this song and hope that they get the message.

Listen To This When: You’re psyching yourself for a break up. You know you need to do it.

4. If I Could Change Your Mind

But if I was to say I’ll forget it
Would it mean a thing?

A song about convincing someone not to break up with you, that you’re perfect together, and asking what you can do to make it just last a little bit longer.

What I Think About It: This is why you need to listen to albums and not just download singles. People miss out in awesome story telling like this – how a break up song is followed up by a let’s not break up song.

Listen To This When: You’re trying to say you’re sorry but you just can’t seem to get the words out. Just play them this song, cook him/her up a fancy dinner, awkwardly strip dance and cross your fingers it works.

5. Honey & I

A song about someone and her honey and how they’re okay with just being together as a live in couple of 8 or so years and still not considering getting married despite…society.

What I Think About It: Where was this song when I was in a live in type of situation?!

Listen To This When: You’re in a family gathering and everyone is just out to get you with those “when are you getting married?” queries. Just sip your vodka soda and with class, just say, “Oh my honey and I? We’re doing just fine.” And walk away.

6. Don’t Save Me

Give it up, give it up to me
Cause I can’t go on
If your love isn’t strong

A song about not needing anyone’s pity love. Yeah, you don’t need it.

What I Think About It: This is a great song to cover and Years and Years just slammed dunk it.

Listen To This When: You just got through an awful break up and you’re ex is trying to get back together out of sheer boredom and you’re convincing yourself that is literally the last thing you need. You’d rather eat shards of glass than get back together.

You can just listen to this for the bass line alone. You can thank me later.

7. Days Are Gone

Sometimes I wish I didn´t miss you at all
Those days are gone

A song about finally getting rid of a bad habit or just a bad person in your life.

What I Think About This Song: This can be like a celebratory song for those people who have finally quit smoking for reals.

Listen To This When: You’re on the fence about quitting something or when you just got out of a bathroom after holding in a diarrhea moment. I mean c’mon, Felt like I was walking on a tight rope those days are gone. That can be a jingle for a laxative!

8. My Song 5

Now I´m not gonna hide it all, keep it all from you

A song about keeping it real, laying down the facts, giving the low down. No it’s not a rap song.

What I Think About The Song: Not my favorite but there’s always that one song you skip in an album. Especially the music video version kind of ruined the song. Just keeping it real guys! See what I did there?

Listen To This When: You are about to tell someone they’re being a bitch and that everyone in the building hates it when you watch Bollywood movies in full volume at 3′ o clock in the morning. Seriously

9. Go Slow

Cuz you took away all my young life.
And I hate who I’ve become from your heat now.

A song about popping your cherry with someone who is waaay more experienced than you are.

What I Think About It: Sexy time song. Awkward sexy time song. You know, like how it is in real life. Awkward and sweaty.

Listen To This When: You have a new beau and it’s about that time to take your relationship to “another level”.

10. Let Me Go

Let me go.
You know I’m not one for leaving.

A song about someone just waiting on someone to break up with them because they are too much of a pussy to do it themselves.

What I Think About It: I never realized how much of a break up album this is until this song. Which is not a bad thing. Not indeed.

Listen To This When: You want to walk away from another season of binge watching FRIENDS. You’re just praying for the power to get cut because you’re too weak/lazy to shut it off and get out of your pajamas.

11. Running If You Call My Name

I’ll keep running if you come my way
When you come my way

A song about avoiding your stalker.

What I Think About It: I feel like doning a silk dress, stare out my window, and just let the wind blow my hair as I think about mortality while this song is playing.

Listen To This When: You’re having a sesh with your therapist and looking back at something that happened a long time ago that may or may not have scarred you for life. Fun times!

The deluxe edition includes more tracks which are just remixes of the songs from this track list which is not as exciting as you thought it would be, especially for a deluxe album. But over all, this is a really really good first album for an upcoming band like Haim. It’s definitely worth the listen and it caters to everyone’s music taste I think.

So if you’ve never heard of Haim or you just need a fresh new sound and you like guitar riffs and awesome vocals in your playlist, then this album is a must.

Do you listen to Haim? What are your favorite tracks from the album? How much do you want to grow out your hair like the Haim girls? Let me know in the comments!

#FollowFridays – The Beauty and Fashion Edit

tumblr_kzq34xRcKH1qzlh2mo1_1280

I am not the girliest of girls. Write that as the understatement of the year. But despite my complete ineptitude in all things girly, I really like girl stuff (but not exclusive to girls) like make up and fashion, especially skin care. There is just something so addictive about watching beauty gurus on YouTube talk about stuff that you just don’t have the disposable income for. Besides YouTube, I get my fill of all things beauty here on WordPress.

A few days ago I sent out this post to the world to let the beauty and fashion bloggers of WP know that I am hunting them. Not to harm them of course but to feature them in my Follow Fridays post. A lot of bloggers responded, some I’ve already been following, some new and I have instantly fallen in love with. So if you like beauty, lifestyle, fashion or anything else girly (or non girly) posts, then maybe you should check the following blogs out.

Stained Vanity

This blog has it all, Product Reviews, DIY’s, Fashion news and sometimes, cookie recipes! The thing I really liked about this blog is that Urjasi features a lot of drug store products in her reviews. Her posts are on point and pretty much what you see is what you get kind of vibe, in a good way.

I suggest this post: Urjasi’s Top 10 Drugstore Mascaras blog post made me consider actually using mascara.

P.S. Penelope

A fairly new blog I guess because there are only a few posts. Just in time for you to fall in love with Penelope’s OOTD pictures which are just… Let’s just say I wish I was that cool at what 14-15? Penelope, teach me your ways!

I suggest this post: Penelope’s “Uptown Funk” Thanksgiving OOTD post which features the cutest baby blue sandals I’ve ever seen.

And On That Note She Wrote

Kim is a “typically British” beauty and lifestyle blogger. Other than make up and fashion posts, Kim talks about her life in Britain, how she deals with her skin issues and just being your best positive self. And if that’s not enough for you to give her a follow, Kim has an adorable brown pup that just melts my robot heart.

I mean just look at this baby!

I suggest this post: Kim shares her must have skin care products for acne prone skin that we can all learn from.

Polished by Amy

When I said I’m not a girly girl, I wasn’t trying to be cute. In fact, if you take a look at my unmanicured short stubby nails then you would probably be convinced. Maybe too convinced. So it’s a surprise that I was drawn into a nail artist’s blog. Oh I’m sorry, a licensed nail technician (fancaay!). Maybe it’s the cool nail tutorials. Maybe it’s Amy’s Southern Charm. Who knows?! Besides all things nails, Amy also blogs about her views on skin care, OOTD’s and she has a YouTube channel too!

I suggest this post: Amy’s video on Nail Art 101 makes me think that I can actually do it.

Style Over Coffee

Sarmistha is a passionate fashion blogger from India. She features some of the dopest clothing combinations that I think I can also pull off! Sometimes you think a certain pattern or a certain color won’t work with another but Sarmistha tells you “I’ll make it work!” ala Tim Gunn.

I suggest this post: The blog’s round up of Sarmistha’s favorite outfits of 2014 which makes me consider buying a jumpsuit.

Very Bangled

Before following Very Bangled I never realized how pretty bangles are. Margaret does a great job of tying in her bangle combinations with a certain theme of her day to day life as a store owner in San Francisco. You don’t even have to share Margaret’s obsession of bangles to start following her. If you like adorable humans then she’s it!

I suggest this post: Not to sound completely biased (Margaret is sort of my blog mom) but there are a lot of LOL posts – seriously, Margaret can be a little crazy –  but you can start with this one.

A Jar of Dreams

I’m keeping it in the blog family. I would be remiss if I make a beauty Follow Friday and not feature my twin Cee. Her love for anime is what initially brought us together (I make it sound so cheesey) but she can put up a beauty related post that just makes me wish she posts more regularly. If you’re subscribed to Birchbox, or considering subscribing for this type of service then you need to follow Cee because she doesn’t hold back in any of her reviews.

taken from: ajarofdreams.wordpress.com

I suggest this post: Being a newbie at this whole make up game, Cee comes to my rescue with this Make Up Starter Kit post.

WordPress has a buttload of great beauty blogs, but in the interest of keeping this short and readable (don’t even deny that short attention span!) I’m going to make a part 2 for beauty Follow Fridays in the coming weeks. So if you’re a beauty blogger that I haven’t featured yet, don’t fret, you can like this post and I can check your blog so I can tell the rest of WordPress about it.

Talking about beauty stuff just validates my femininity even if I am slouching in my dirty sweats. Tell me in the comments what makes you beautiful? A dark red lipstick? A magic elixir? Tell me all your secrets!

Till then, stay gorgeous.

Thoughts on Turtlenecks and Breasts

image

I’m wearing a turtleneck today and man is it the most annoying clothing in the world. I have not found a reason to wear a thong or a g-string but turtlenecks are the thongs of collars. Am I right?! Geez! I look cute but I feel like I’m being choke hold by a baby!

On another note, I know my breasts are in a bad angle in that photo but I guess breasts have their good days and bad days too. What men don’t know is that the aesthetic of a lady’s breast depends on the support or the bra as we call it. I mean you can own a pair of boobs that can stunt double for Kate Winslet but if your bra is a padless wireless non-supporting piece of cloth then…well it can still stunt double Kate Winslet’s I guess.

Another thing that some men may be oblivious about is that bras are a huge pain in the butt! It’s basically a turtleneck collar for breasts in terms of uncomfortable. And no we can’t go braless or else we would have, so stop suggesting!

Attention Beauty Bloggers

Are you a beauty blogger?

I do this segment called Follow Fridays where I feature bloggers from WordPress and recommend them to those who happen to be reading my blog already.

Lately, I have been experimenting on make up and beauty stuff, because as an adult female I just think it’s about time for me to learn this stuff and not just buy a foundation in the hopes that it would “work out”.

I am not the girliest of girls but it doesn’t mean I don’t like to read on make up, skincare, fashion and whatever we girls like to talk about. So if you happen to be blogging about the mentioned, then please like this post so I can check out your blog and feature it in a post. Also because I want to broaden my WordPress Reader.

Till then stay awesome.

Thoughts on Stress and Naked Pizza Eating

I was feeling rotten yesterday. Like the absolute worst. I was so down that I did not even bother to turn my computer on. My parents instantly knew that something was wrong.

I hate feeling down. Especially when it’s the kind of sad you can’t really cry about. It’s just that you’re sad and you have somehow given up on life. It’s like a fart you’ve been holding for too long that by the time you’re okay to set it loose the fart  won’t let go and instead of trying to let the fart out you just raise your hands in surrender and yell “fuck it!”

I hate feeling down so I did remedy myself (not in that way you pervs!) By stripping down to my undies and eat pizza and watch Chelse Peretti’s stand up then I took the longest nap known to man.

If you have never tried eating pizza naked, I suggest you try it because nothing says “I’m a freaking adult!” and “I have given up on life!” Than wiping pizza grease in your underwear.

Ok sorry for that mental image.

Hope this made you feel better if ever you’re feeling down.

Maybe You Should Listen To Hozier’s Album Erm… Hozier

Some days ago, I made the conscious choice of recommending One Direction’s album Four. And though I don’t regret that decision, I am here to tell you that my taste in music far exceeds lyrics about the world exploding because of a girl in jeans. Don’t let the One Direction fans see this post please.

I don’t know if you’ve met this Irish tall drink of water. But if not this is your chance to get into the world of Hozier. And it can get a little dark but in a romantic way.

My mission is to convince a certain amount of you to listen to Hozier and if you have already, to listen to the entirety of his album. Because I am an old fashioned purist who roots for the underdog Side B tracks!

Hozier’s album Hozier. Let’s do this!

1. Take Me To Church

The only heaven I’ll be sent to
Is when I’m alone with you—

A song about a man worshiping a woman over organized religion.

What I think about it: Blasphemously sexy!

Listen to this when: Oh! You’ve not heard of this song before? That’s a cute rock you’re living under!

2. Angel of Small Death & the Codeine Scene

With her sweetened breath, and her tongue so mean
She’s the angel of small death and the codeine scene

A song about a man falling in love with a red neck’s daughter.

What I think about it: It’s the kind of song someone writes about their dumb “first love”

Listen to this when: During harvest time or while pulling out the weeds in the garden. While getting high on cough syrup of course!

3. Jackie and Wilson

Every version of me dead and buried in the yard outside.
Sit back and watch the world go by.

A song about finding the person you want to spend your future with.

What I think about it: It’s always sweet when a guy sings a song about having kids with someone. Sweet. Super sweet.

Listen to this when: When you’re about to propose.

4. Someone New

And so I fall in love just a little, oh a little bit every day with someone new

A song about flirting with a person and wanting to take it to the next level.

What I think about it: Hozier should have totally chosen this song as his next release, to kind of counter balance the semi darkness of Take Me To Church. Really adorable.

Listen to this when: Actually sing this during karaoke night and dedicate it to the new cute girl/guy. Think JGL in 500 Days of Summer but sober please.

5. To Be Alone

It feels good, girl, it feels good
Oh to be alone with you

A song about taking that girl/guy home to your place and you’re about to do the sexy time.

What I think about it: Umm yes!! I would totally sleep with you Hozier!! And also the line To feel your weight in arms I’d never use – It’s the God that heroin prays to, belongs in our marriage vows.

Listen to this when: When you’re undressing and about to make sweet sweet love.

6. From Eden

Babe, there’s something tragic about you
Something so magic about you

A song about loving the person you love even with all the flaws and loving the flaws.

What I think about it: I’m dying. I’m dying! The lyrics! A song that I should maybe learn and sing in my best friends wedding.

Listen to this when: You wake up in the morning and you’re staring at that person you love while they’re still sleeping and realizing you want to be with them for a long long time.

7. In A Week (feat Karen Cowley)

We’ll lay here for years or for hours
Thrown here or found, to freeze or to thaw

A song about wanting to die and rot with the person you love.

What I think about it: This is so romantically dark! The tune is so sweet and hypnotic and then there’s the lyrics talking about insects eating their rotting skin. It’s so new and yet I’ve heard something like this before.

Listen to this when: When you and you’re honey are staying in the weekend marathoning the West Wing and pigging on fast food delivery.

8. Sedated

We are deaf, we are numb
Free and young and we can feel none of it

A song about social media and the dangers it possess.

What I think about it: When I listen to this, it takes me back to those times when I would attend music festivals and get high on… well the music.

Listen to this when: You’re about to get high on….music.

9. Work Song

No grave can hold my body down
I’ll crawl home to her

A song about coming home after a hard day’s work.

What I think about it: This makes me feel so hopeful that I can find someone who I can come home to and just get a foot massage.

Listen to this when: When you’re heading home to someone and that someone promises you a hot meal and an episode of The Great British Bake Off. That’s love!

10. Like Real People Do

I will not ask you where you came from
I will not ask and neither should you

A song or more like a jab on online dating and at the same time condoning online dating.

What I think about it: It’s so sweet. Like everything in the world is okay, and no one is dying because of comedy, for at least 3 minutes.

Listen to this when: Convincing the person you’ve been flirting with on Omegle to finally meet up with you in person.

11. It Will Come Back

You know better babe, you know better babe,
Than to talk to it, talk to it like that.

A song with repetitive lyrics and drums.

What I think about it: I couldn’t care much for it. Like Real People Do is a tough act to follow. Sorry.

Listen to this when: When you have to make a post about Hozier’s album. Actually, I just listened to this again while making this post and that intro is sick!

12. Foreigner’s God

Always a well dressed fraud
Who wouldn’t spare the rod

A song about consumerism.

What I think about it: Some people would be tempted to skip this track.

Listen to this when: You’re getting over a Fight Club high.

There’s actually 4 more tracks in this album that I did not include in this post. No real reason but I just feel I have to cut it down to 12. It doesn’t man I love Hozier any less. In a world of auto tune Hozier is a breathe of fresh mainstream air. Plus, he’s ultra hot.

I hope my blog mom Margaret (Very Bangled) agreed with this album choice of the week since she highly disagreed with my last one. And also roping in Cee in this post to force/convince her to be on board the Hozier train.

Do you listen to Hozier? What favorite song do you have on repeat? And more importantly, what album should I be listening and reviewing next?

I leave you with this very sexy picture of Hozier.

Renovation

It’s time to make time to renovate this blog. I figured I should get rid of all the excess categories I have because let’s face it, I might not do another Dear Dora post. Or any other posts that I have dedicated a category to.

It’s time. It’s time to take this blog a little seriously.  Why? Because it is a testament to how much I take my own life seriously.

I know it’s a stretch to take this blog seriously when all I talk about are tv shows or movies or music or lifestyle choices.  But these things are important to me, or else I wouldn’t be talking about them, and this will sound corny as hell but it is also the make up of who I am as a person. Scary, I know. That I am a mere by product of shows or movies or whatever bullshit we pretend is relevant. I am truthful that I am influenced by Attack On Titan people!

So yeah. This blog will go through some changes.
